Modern glamour and decoration
Decorators return as the purveyors of a new looks and
styles. In recent seasons, Promostyl has chosen various decorators as icons of
trends. For Winter 2006/07, the 60's British decorator David Hicks who brought
elements of Pop design into decoration was chosen as the style icon for the Audacity
theme.
In the theme Playtime from Winter 2007/08, the American decorator Jonathan Adler
was chosen style icon. His optimistic approach to interior decorating with its
mix of colors and geometric patterns creates homes that are fun and vibrant.
For Winter 2008/09, the American decorator Kelly Wearstler was chosen as the
icon of the theme DECORUM. Her blending of decorative and baroques elements create
a visually sophisticated style that is both theatrical and modern , as shown
in her best-selling book "Modern Glamour". To borrow from the French magazine
Stiletto, the look is one of "Europulence".
With the opening of the newly refurbished
Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, the traditions and "savoir faire" of
French craftmanship is in the forefront. The importance of decorative
look as one of the most important aspects of their business. As stated in the
Winter 2008/09 Influences trend book, "Decoration becomes an extension
of oneself, a way of differentiating and communicating one's complex personality;
from how one decorates ones home to how one decorates oneself."
